Nicola Sacco
LACAH X : Spring 2026
On April 15, 1920, Nicola Sacco, an Italian anarchist, was allegedly involved in the robbery and murder of a paymaster and a guard in South Braintree, Massachusetts. A railroad gate tender testified that he observed Sacco as the armed passenger in a fleeing Buick, holding a firearm. Sacco's defense argues that he was at work that day, supported by payroll and attendance records, making it physically impossible for him to be involved in the crime. The State of Massachusetts has charged Sacco with two counts of first-degree murder.
